Questions buyers ask before the first PO.
Quoting, material, inspection and delivery. The practical conditions behind a ship date.
Mon to Fri, 07:00 to 18:00 ET. A person answers; the estimator who priced your job calls back.
DRAWING IN BY 15:00 ET / QUOTE THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY
Quoting.
How fast is a quote?
One business day from a complete package received by 15:00 ET. Complete means a drawing with tolerances, the material, the finish and the quantity. Configurator lines are priced on the spot.
What files do you take?
STEP, DXF, DWG, PDF, IGES and Parasolid (X_T). A PDF drawing plus a STEP model is the fastest pair.
Do you quote from a sketch?
Yes, if it is dimensioned. We send back a drawing for your sign-off before we cut anything.
Is there a minimum order?
No minimum quantity. There is a $150 minimum per line, which covers programming and setup.
Do you sign NDAs?
Yes. Check the NDA box on the RFQ and we send our mutual NDA before anyone opens your files.
Materials and tolerances.
What do you stock?
5052-H32 and 6061-T6 aluminum, 304 and 316 stainless, A36 and 1018 steel, from 0.040 to 0.750 in. Other alloys by quote, usually 3 to 5 days for material.
What tolerances do you hold?
±0.010 in on laser features, ±0.015 in per bend, ±0.005 in machined, ±0.001 in on bores you call out. Tighter by quote.
Why do you quote in inches, not gauge?
Gauge numbers mean different thicknesses in steel, stainless and aluminum. Inches mean one thing.
Can you bend 6061-T6?
Yes, at a 1.5 × t inside radius or larger. Tighter than that it cracks on the outside of the bend. If you need tight bends, use 5052-H32.
Quality.
What ships with my parts?
A certificate of conformance and the material cert for the lot on every order. First article and dimensional reports when the PO asks.
What if a part is out of tolerance?
If it is outside a tolerance on your drawing, we remake it at our cost, pay the freight both ways, and send the root cause within 2 business days.
How are your gauges calibrated?
Every gauge has a calibration record and a due date. An outside lab calibrates every 12 months; operators check against standards before each shift. A gauge past due is tagged out.
Shipping.
Do you deliver?
Our truck runs Nassau, Suffolk and Queens on Tuesdays and Thursdays: free over $500, $85 under. Everywhere else ships ground freight.
Can I pick up?
Will-call at the Hauppauge dock, Monday to Friday, 07:00 to 17:00. Bring the PO number.
Accounts.
What are your terms?
Net 30 on approved credit. First orders ship on prepayment while credit is set up.
How does the customer portal work?
Every open account gets a portal: job stages, ship dates, lot certs and reorders. You sign in with a one-time link sent to your work email, so there is no password to keep.
A detail the FAQ does not cover.
Put the requirement in the RFQ notes. The estimator answers it against your drawing and quantity, or call the desk and ask.
