Skin and itch

Forty minutes, because the history matters most: when it started, where it itches, what changed. We take a sample to read while you wait, check for fleas, and give relief today while we look for the cause.

What happens

  1. Forty minutes, because the history matters most.
  2. A tape or scraping sample, read under the microscope while you wait.
  3. A flea check, even for indoor pets.
  4. Relief today, and a plan to find the cause: food, fleas, or environment.

  • The names of foods and treats your pet eats, with the brand.
  • Any shampoo, spray, or medication you have tried.

Call now instead if

  • Swelling of the face or muzzle, or hives, after a sting, a new food, or a new medicine.
  • Trouble breathing with any swelling.

Please call instead of booking. We will tell you whether to come now.

Questions

Do I need to change the food?

Maybe, but not yet. Fleas and the environment come first because they are faster to rule out. A food trial takes 8 weeks, so we start one only if it is worth it.

Is it an allergy?

It can be, and allergies are common, but we reach that answer after ruling out fleas, mites, and infection. We will not guess on the first visit.

Tummy trouble

30 min · $145 to $420

Exam and a stool test, bloodwork if vomiting is frequent or your pet is older, and anti-nausea medication if it fits.
